| Quote MikeyWire="MikeyWire"Fozzard was a little out of order considering no club would touch him and we took a chance on him.
'"
Fozzard wanted to stay at Warrington so when Saints got in touch and asked him what he wanted he said a figure double what Warrington were offering to put them off. Saints insisted he signed a three years contract and not the two he asked for.
Warrington told him he'd be mad to turn them down. I remember him actually shedding a tear after his last game for us. Fozzard was a real gem for us during a very bleak time.

I guess we must have black-mailed him to sign his contract extension then.

| Quote mark_m="mark_m"Not sure why he wouldn't have wanted to play for the club, they had always been very fair to him. Think it may have been more to do with Smith not finding his off pitch behaviour acceptable.'"
Hadn't we already agreed to release him for nothing from the final year of his contract to go to the NRL?
The fact that Wigan were willing to part with the best part of £150k and Richie Mathers for a player who was going for nothing a few months later was a bonus.

| Writing was on the wall for him the day we signed him.
He just didn't want to be here, he got given a great chance at Wigan he won the Super League there plus the fans liked him, it was all set up for him but again he's let off the field crap get in the way.
Hope he gets left for dead by our lot tomorrow, was throwing up alot in the derby you have to wonder if his body can take the short turn around.

So why did he sign a contract extension?

You get more by letting your contract run out and starting a "bidding war". So again if he never wanted to be here why did he sign a contract extension?

| I think when Glees signed the extension that he actually wanted to be here and thought we were going places. I just don't think he was prepared to wait for the success or change to suit TS style of management.

| I don't remember any anti-Gleeson hate while he was still a player with us, if you go back to Gleeson's final season in 2008, supposedly four full years after he "didn't want to be here", most of the hate from Wire fans was directed towards Matt King and Michael Monaghan, there were fans on here who were saying they'd pay for their tickets to go back home, coming over here on big deals ripping off the fans...
When Gleeson was here, our fans thought he was great, remember we had probably the slowest starting winger in SL at the time in Fa'afili, who was up at the top of the try scoring charts every year, a lot of our own fans criticised him despite him scoring all those tries, calling him 'fairy feet', the usual line was "well ANYBODY could score a load outside Gleeson, he's just that good a centre". The discussion regarding his future here was never "should we get rid", it was "will we be able to keep him or will he go to the NRL". It was after he was gone, that all of this "he was no good anyway" talk started.
In fact if you went back to the 2008 World Cup, I reckon there would be a few posters on here who would be embarrassed about their opinions at the time, because I remember us talking about how Gleeson was England's best player, and how Tony Smith had been proven to be not the man for us, given how out of clueless he was picking guys like Paul Sykes.
