I would have him, but it wouldn't be a long term solution. Not sure about Myler but if he does end up going I doubt it will be to us.

how far off first team is kay? going by fact he didnt even get named in squad during deacs absence suggests coaching staff dont thinks he ready yet.

We've still got Deacon for another 18 months. So Kay isn't needed for the now is he.

deacons increasingly injury prone though. hopefully we'll retain jeffries next year but we cant go into next season with just deacon and jeffries as available halves unless we're pretty confident that academy lads are at stage that we can rely on them to step up if injuries strike. tbh cant see deacon being anything more than injury cover next year. Has been a great player for us but he's losing his pace rapidly and his kicking game ( conversions apart) is deteriorating- probably due to recurring injuries.

nope myler would be coming as first choice with deacs as backup and jeffries at standoff. although if you read posts I never said anything about wanting myler. I just said when his salford deal ran out in response to someone elses question.



my personal preference would be to retain jeffries but move him to halfback, where I feel he plays a lot better, and sign an out and out standoff on a longish deal. retain deacon as backup for a year (but only because 50k of his deal doesnt count on cap). Jeffries is thirty next year so he wont be blocking kays path for more than a year or two. with hopefully kay filling in for injuries in 2010 season and then gradually being filtered in during 2011 season.

Deacon will now lead us onto more glory & cups in 2009 !!
