Ben Jefferies only played when Ben Jefferies wanted to play! He spent most of his second spell at BV sat in the stands playing with his mobile phone and not taking an interest in anything that was happening on the pitch. I for one am glad he's gone, he shouldn't have come back in the first place after the shoddy way he went last time!

Hyde maybe ok in time but at the moment not a s/o When i can kick it better than his pathetic efforts saturday. Hes still a proffesional and should do better than that!

Hyde plays like he does because he simply has not played enough SL games to be consistent or nail his position. He also isn't playing along side any experienced half backs either so basically he can only learn from his own mistakes which makes it hard for the lad IMO. If he was playing alongside Thurston he's look a hell of a lot better don't you think.

So that makes him strange in his own world too, clearly from the majority of his posts he obviously wasn't mentality wise.

I think Mathers had a really good game, which is hard for me to say because I really don't like him. However, I think the difference between average kickers and really good kickers is the ability to put it into the gaps that are available. Even if the fullback has a great game he can't cover the entire width of the field.

Mathers did have a good game (He was MoM IMO) and sometimes its hard for fans to praise an opposition player, some find it easier to blame one of thier own players.

In most cases the cas players fielding the kick hardly had to move to take it and most were caught on the full allowing valuable metres to be gained. Our kickers don't see to take account of where the opposition players are and aim for the space.

In the 2nd half the main problem was our kickers getting carried away by the wind advantage and certainly Hyde's insistence on trying for 40-20's instead of territory. It was therefore easy for Mathers to set himself early and catch the ball.



A good kicker, like an ordinary one, will have a plan A but has the quick ability to change to plan B if he sees the ground is being closed down. Hyde's kicks seem almost too predetermined with him setting his body position and place in the line very early then compounding this by running in the direction he's kicking it for too long. All this makes it easier for a full-back with good game sense, like Mathers, to position themselves.
