This has been by far the greatest Olympics in my lifetime and I've been watching them all since Seoul '88. But now, it's all over and we now have to go back to having football rammed down our throats every second of every day until May 2013, Sky Sports News will now revert back to Sky Sports Football News et al.

Important thing to remember about the Olympic legacy is that it's not just about securing funding, or more medals next time. It's also about people (young especially) feel inspired to get off their backsides and do some exercise. They don't have to take up the shot put, do a triathlon or take up dressage - just live a more active lifestyle.



Anyway, can't stop, got my first water polo session this afternoon so I've got to buy some arm bands for the horse.

I hope GB Handball ask for more volunteers because i'll seriously consider going for that.

With that post, neither have you. I was told by Miss Brophy, at AHCGS, that I should never start a sentence with the word 'And.'



I was at the Taekwando (probably misspelt) yesterday and the atmosphere was brilliant. The only thing that spoilt it was the daft bint who kept demanding that everyone 'make some noise,' between fights. I also went to the Marathon this morning, and that was even better. Each and every runner got massive encouragement in conditions that were terrible for such a race.

The athletics on Friday night was by far and away the best sporting event I've ever attended as a "neutral" (ie, something not involving Liverpool or Warrington). That includes a European Cup Final between two Serie A teams, an NFL game in Tampa Bay and an F1 GP among other things so I have been to a few "events" just to experience them.



To be a part of this was something special. Really looking forward to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and London 2017 World Athletics Championships now, but nothing can or will top the Olympic Games and from what I experienced first hand as well as what I've watched on telly, London hosted them magnificently.

Legacy?



My son really wants to play basketball, totally down to watching it at the Olympics. He's announced it's his second favourite sport, so going to take him to have a go at the Ball Hall on Saturday.

I would have loved to have been there, glad your ticket went to somebody who appreciated it.

I'm not sure what the legacy will be yet, but it's something we'll discover over the next few years. In my opinion the dominance of British cycling in Beijing and now London is the ultimate legacy of the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games and a fine legacy it is. We'll see what develops from London 2012 in due course.
