Still got Kevin Ellis's brigdend top he gave me it the day before he signed for the Wire was staying in hotel were i worked still see him now and again top bloke !!
Aaahhh Kevin Ellis. How I crushed on him as a star-struck kid! I even had a 'Kevin Ellis coat'. Does anyone remember those horrible, woven/carpet-looking coats that were popular? We he had one and I had to have one too. When I was mascot and given my tour of the dressing room he said hello and shook my hand, all whilst clad in only a jockstrap. I was 11 and so embarassed!
Those years were the golden era for me, not hugely for the rugby but it was when I was just starting to take a real interest in the sport and not just playing 'tick' on the terraces and 'hide and seek' in the empty Bevan stand after the game.
