John Bateman to Canberra - Big loss for Wigan.

39 gun deaths and 591 gun related victims last year alone in Toronto.

Don't know why you'd bring knife or acid attacks into it, cos London Broncos would be screwed.

There John Bateman will link up with lock forward Luke Bateman, who may be no relation. Coach Ricky Stuart loves British players.



Wigan is being weakened by losing Samuel Tomkins, John Bateman, and Morgan Escare -- and these are just the ones I know of.



In return Wigan is gaining the dubious character Zackary Hardaker -- that is if he is not first arrested by the police for drinking related offences.

I didn't say that he is too bad, just a bang average NRL player.

Hopefully a stint in the NRL improves George Williams game, so that he becomes a worth half back partner to Gareth Widdop for England, a position the national side has very little depth.

should do well in SL then!

I personally don’t think Bateman will make it in the NRL. Defensively he will be sound but the NRL like their back rowers to be able to break a tackle or pass, neither of which he can do. That’s said, he will learn over there which will only benefit him in the long run

Bateman runs with his head down and cuts inside far too much and the NRL coaches will pick up on that immediately I reckon. However, it can quite easily be coached out of his game and pretty much all other aspects of his game are decent.

If I was worried about anything holding him back over there it's his temperament and increased media scrutiny.

Hopefully glass bottles have been removed from Canberra

I think Bateman will fit in well at Canberra. Their side has too many huge forwards with no stamina - they're crying out for someone with a bit of mobility and an engine.

I think Bateman will end up staying in Oz for a long time.
