| Quote Biff Tannen="Biff Tannen"You can't compare Fridays game to tonight, bit of a blow out once game was up but at least we had a real go, your lot were truly woeful throughout and it was simply trying to keep the score down from minute one. i would be really worried going forward if i was a Saints fan but us Leeds fans can take a lot more from that first half showing and we will only get better once more and more bodies get fit and our young lads settle.'"
Just think for a bit about what you just said.
A team got beaten by 26 points, scoring 12 and conceding 38, and that was "woeful throughout".
Another team got beaten by 34 points, scoring just 4 but also conceding 38, and that was having "a real go".
Really ?
I mean, being loyal to your team is one thing, but being hopelessly one-eyed is another. Saints' performance on Friday was dire, and they were thrashed. Leeds' performance tonight was equally as dire, and they were thrashed even more soundly. Wigan's performance was somewhere in between those two dire spots, as they scored as many as Saints, but conceded even more than Leeds and Saints.
Basically what we've seen is that there is a gulf in class between the top NRL sides and the top SL sides. Don't let patronising guff about "brave young lads" from commentators who are desperate to cover over a tragic mismatch fool you.

The scoreline doesn't always tell the full story though does it, its not that cut and dry.We matched Cowboys toe to toe for 40 minutes, level 4-4 at HT against the full 17 they had on duty to win the NRL GF containing the worlds best player to boot in a game that actually meant something to the Aussie team that came here.Contrast that to the players we had out, all our spine missing plus others who would start.
I don't deny they ran away with it in the end which most RL fans expected under the circumstances, but i certainly feel leeds have far more that they can take from the weekend going forward than Saints.Just my opinion.
Your last paragraph is something we both agree on.

The margin might've been 8 more in the Leeds game but if most neutral people were being honest they'd be prouder of the showing and more optimistic heading forward if they followed Leeds than if they did Saints.

Another song pinched off the football club fans...still it gives the brass section in the south stand another song to play!

Yeah, though we probably shouldn't mention it - afterall missing half a dozen of your first choice 17 shouldn't have any bearing on the result.
I'm sure if the Cowboys were missing Thurston, Granville, Feldt, Tamolou and Cooper and Leeds had won we'd have been given full credit and nobody would have cheapened our victory whatsoever.

| The moronic din from the Southstand sounded like 'O WE ARE WEEE' to me too. At least it was an accurate reflection of the gulf in class between the two teams I suppose. The sooner that stand is bulldozed and seats installed the better.

| As stated, it's "all Leeds aren't we" and is borrowed from the football; I agree it's a bit annoying, but most clubs in SL would kill for the kind of vocal support they get from the South Stand - brass band notwithstanding, which is just painful.

| Was there some new supporters of Rugby League/Leeds watching this game as the chant "All Leeds aren't we" has been around a while and its not like you wouldn't have heard it at the ground before or in the hundreds of matches Leeds have been on Sky?

It always comes across worse on the tv than it does in the ground.
I usually stand in the South Stand but toward the end of the stand at the Western Terrace end and it's nothing like as annoying even stood there as it is on tv because the TV gantry is literally right above where the "band" are.

| As a neutral stood in the south stand I can confirm it was annoying as fook. I actually thought they were also singing 'we are sub-standard'. Turned out it was south standers but could equally apply.

Can't be worse than one song *containing one word/name* Wigan ......
"Wiiiiiiii - gin - Wiiiiiiiiii - gin" *on repeat*. (& in a high pitched pre-op tone)
Dull, illiterate, devoid of humour & lacking any invention or thought, possibly the most profoundly boring fan base known to Rugby League.
On the other hand, some clubs have 5 or 6 [ifull[/i songs just about dear old Wiiiiiiiii - gin.
Oh, & you pronounce Monaco (a Club in Hindley/Wigan) Mon-'A'-Co .... NOT ... Mun-Arrr-Core or Mun-'O'- Core.
It's a principality.

Let's face it, they all would. The atmosphere at the 2 WCS games was nothing short of embarrassing.
[url=https://www.facebook.com/rlsuperleague/videos/vb.325962660751036/1260858393928120/?type=3&theaterWorld's best player seemed to like it[/url and I believe the word he used was "unreal". The NZ team performed a haka just for us last year before telling everyone the atmosphere at Headingley was the best they'd ever experienced.
But a few silly old men on the internet can't work out what the crowd's singing so maybe, just maybe it's finally time we banned any kind of chanting, musical instrument playing, cheering, laughing or jumping up and down at sporting events. Please also keep any talking to a whisper.

| It's amazing how fans of other clubs complain about this yet their fans own chants are hardly music to the ears ("oh Warry Warry, Warry Warry Warry Warry Warrington".....particularly rubbish). The only difference is you notice Leeds more because of the crowd size.

There does seem to be a disproportionately large contingent of grumpy old men amongst the RL fan base, from whom any overt signs of enjoying yourself at a game are met with a chorus of tutting and eye-rolling.
Personally, I enjoy it when a crowd is vocal - it adds to the atmosphere and is enjoyable to be part of - provided it stays on the right side of reasonably good taste; this is perhaps where the South Stand lets itself down - unless of course they have a live video feed to the official's changing room and can therefore say with certainty that "the referees a w@nker."

Everything was better pre-SL, including the atmosphere at Leeds games. True story.

Totally. There's a couple of songs I wish they'd drop. One about Brett Delaney and the "go get your father's gun..." which has been sung for decades but aside from that, the louder the better. The players love it, the opposition players love it and 99% of us in the stadium love it.

It sounds like Leeds fans are singing "oh Leeds are wee" (as in, urine!) accompanied by the out of tune trumpeters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54sT9_KZScU
To be fair to Leeds' fans - even thouh the trumpets are truly horrendous and out of tune 98% of the time - at least their fans give it a go.
