It is also better than the 1st, 2nd and 3rd etc rounds. But you ultimately win the same at the end - the centre of a doughnut.



In fact, IMO, if my team are not gonna win the cup I would rather go out early rather than end up playing a few extra games that ultimately prove to be fruitless.

I think it is basically a prediction of how climatic conditions will develop in a specific area. HTH.

Have to disagree. This season is about showing progress after the dross of last year. A close defeat in the CC semi final against one of the better teams, a 6th place finish and one play off victory would represent a decent year.

Surely a longer run in the cup presents you with more opportunity to watch your team?

It also presents the situation where players could be getting burn-out at the business end of the season where it matters. All I am saying is that if my team did not win the Cup, I would rather go out early than play a few more fixtures before going out empty handed.

Completely agree semi finals can take a lot out of teams due to the intensity of the game and its even worse getting beat in a final. I'd rather go out in the first round than be beaten at Wembley tbh. There were other factors but it didn't do Huddersfield any favours in the league and it was all a bit pointless given nobody remembers a runner up (except opposition fans using it as ammunition to gloat, another reason its better getting knocked out earlier). The timing of the cup is such that any big injuries can impact on the playoffs. If you end up winning the cup of course these issues become pretty insignificant, in fact judging by the comments from Wire fans before the Wigan game you'd think they'd won the double last season, they must have thought it was by one get one free (as with their players it would appear

).
