So, a narrow defeat to opponents with their entire three quarter line out injured seems to be greeted with optimism by the fans. It shows what meagre fare we’ve got used to recently. If we had some dynamic game changers waiting to enter the fray I might feel a little more positive myself, but this is a game we should have been winning. Better than last season, but I just don’t see where the regular and necessary future gains will be coming from. Better than watching a passive Rohan Smith coached team, but still a troubling outcome for me.
I think the optimism comes from the fact that our forwards have competed with 3 of the best sides in the comp and have matched them. Yes we still have work to do in attack but that seemed to be coming together a bit last night.
Wire were missing their entire three quarter line which has to be taken into account but we lost our star winger without him playing a game and lost Croft mid game when we were 8 points in front.
For the 1st time in a long while the green shoots are appearing. Keep the faith.
